Doors with sidelites are a pre-hung type door as seen above but can include either one or two connected window units to the left and/or right side and sometimes have a long horizontal window across the top which is called a transom. These can sometimes be an option for people who prefer not to have side by side double french doors.

Most sliding patio door units nowadays have dual pane glass with a spacer between the panes in order to give the door more energy efficiency. The glass is available with a Low Emissivity (Low-E) coating which is clear yet very effective in reflecting the sun’s radiation, keeping your home cooler in the summer.
